Rangers Vs. Rays: Texas Tries To Slow Down Surging Tampa Bay

The Texas Rangers continue their three-game weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday evening when the two teams meet at Tropicana Field.

Friday night the Rays picked up their fifth win in six games, thrusting them into the playoff race. They now stand just one game back in the Wild Card standings and just two games behind the New York Yankees in the AL East race. Meanwhile, Texas dropped a game to Oakland in the standings on Friday but remains 4.5 games ahead in the AL West race with 24 games to play.

Texas is scheduled to start Yu Darvish (14-9, 4.29 ERA) against the Rays. The right-hander has been strong of late, winning three of his last four starts including a win over Kansas City in his last outing when he gave up three hits and three runs in seven innings.

Tampa Bay will counter with right-hander Chris Archer (0-2, 3.86). The young right-hander is looking for his first major league win in just his third career start.

The games is scheduled to start at 6:10 p.m. CT and will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
