Rangers Vs. Rays Game Recap: Texas Loses 3-1 On 11th-Inning Ben Zobrist Walkoff

The Texas Rangers lost to the Tampa Bays Rays on a Ben Zobrist eleventh-inning walkoff Friday Night.

The Rangers' Derek Holland pitched eight strong innings, giving up only two hits and two walks. He struck out 11, a career high. Holland allowed one run, a solo home run to Evan Longoria in the fourth. The Rangers failed to give Holland any run support, registering only 5 hits all night. Their sole score came in the fifth on a Michael Young solo shot.

Winning pitcher Wade Davis struck out five of the six batters he faced in the tenth and eleventh innings, allowing only a single to left fielder David Murphy. Murphy was caught trying to steal second later in the inning.

Texas remains 5 games ahead of the Oakland Athletics for first place in the AL West. The Rangers play the Rays again Saturday in Tampa.
