The Texas Rangers avoided a sweep on Sunday, winning the final game of a three game series against the Seattle Mariners and maintaining a four-game lead over the Oakland A's in the A.L. West. The two teams now meet for a crucial four-game series, starting Monday evening in Arlington.
Oakland is coming off two disappointing series, winning just two of six games in Detroit and New York and failing to capitalize on the Rangers struggles the past week.
The Rangers still own the best record in baseball but could continue to be without Josh Hamilton, with manager Ron Washington stating Sunday he was hopeful the MVP candidate would play against Oakland
Probable pitchers for the series:
Sept. 24: LHP Derek Holland (11-6, 4.42 ERA) takes the mound against RHP Dan Straily (2-1, 4.13 ERA) to kick off the series. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. CT, with coverage on FSSW and ESPN Radio.
Sept. 25: RHP Yu Darvish (16-9, 3.90) faces LHP Tommy Milone (13-10, 3.86) on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. CT, with coverage on FSSW and ESPN Radio.
