Rangers Vs. Mariners Game Recap: Matt Harrison Leads Texas To 2-1 Win Over Seattle

Matt Harrison pitched a gem for Texas, Adrian Beltre homered and the Rangers edged the Seattle Mariners, 2-1, at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on Sunday. Harrison improved to 17-9, allowing one run on six hits and a walk in 8⅔ innings. He struck out five.

Beltre's home run came in the bottom of the fourth against Blake Beavan and gave Texas a 1-0 lead. Mitch Moreland added to the advantage in the fifth when he doubled home David Murphy.

Beavan took the loss for Seattle, but he pitched well. The 6'7'', 240-pound righty gave up two runs on seven hits and a walk in seven innings. He struck out two Rangers. Justin Smoak drove in the Mariners' lone run when he hit a solo home run in the top of the eighth.

The win was Texas's 87th of the season, the most in the American League. The Rangers hold a three-game lead over the Oakland Athletics in the AL West.
