Rays Vs. Rangers: Tampa Bay Has Task Of Slowing Hot Adrian Beltre

In the first of a three-game series, the Rangers managed to snag the win over the Tampa Bay Rays with a 6-5 victory. The win kept the Texas stranglehold over the AL West firmly in place and a third consecutive loss for Tampa Bay dropped the Rays behind the Oakland A's and Baltimore Orioles in the Wild Card standings.

On Tuesday, the Rangers will look to make it back-to-back victories when Yu Darvish takes to the mound. Darvish, in his first season with the Rangers, has a 12-9 record, though he lost his last start when he allowed three runs in seven innings to the Toronto Blue Jays.

Taking the mound for the Rays will be James Shields, who has won his last two starts, including allowing three runs to the Royals into the eighth in his last appearance. Shields will have the tough task of slowing down Adrian Beltre, who has had multiple hits in five of his last seven games, including a 3-for-3 performance that featured a solo home run against the Rays on Monday night.

The first pitch of the game at Rangers Ballpark is scheduled to be thrown at 7:05 p.m. CT and will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest as well as Sun Sports.
