Mike Napoli Injury: Rangers Catcher Feeling Good After Rehab Work

Texas Rangers catcher Mike Napoli is close to returning from a quad injury, running on the treadmill today during rehab work and reporting no pain. The catcher will see doctors tonight about his progress and says he feels good, according to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Napoli had been playing with various ailments before landing on the 15-day DL with a strained left quadriceps and started hitting again last week. All signs point to Napoli joining the Rangers against the Twins when he is eligible to be activated Aug. 26.

Napoli is hitting just .223 this season with 17 home runs and 40 RBIs, after hitting .320 last season in his first year with the Rangers.

Ron Washington has stated that Napoli will likely see time mostly at DH once he returns, with Geovany Soto maintaining everyday catching duties and Mike Olt and Michael Young continuing to split time at first base.
