For the second time this year, Ron Washington is opting to skip Yu Darvish in the rotation. Darvish won't make another start until after the All-Star break, as Texas' skipper is looking to rest his prized arm.

Darvish is used to having an extra day of rest between starts, as is custom in Japan. Darvish previously was given an extra couple days of rest in mid-June. After getting lit up on June 7 by the Athletics, Darvish didn't pitch until June 15, when he dominated the Astros for eight innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and two walks, while striking out 11.
↵With the All-Star break right around the corner, it makes all the sense in the world to use this time to give Darvish a breather -- especially with Derek Holland ready to return from the disabled list.
