The Texas Rangers bats were silenced Wednesday night as they were shut out by the Oakland Athletics 2-0. This game was a pitching duel as the Rangers Colby Lewis pitched a complete game and allowed only six hits and two runs. While the A's Bartolo Colon who pitched eight scoreless innings while striking out five.
The A's got on the board first in the second inning Brandon Inge hit a RBI single to score Yoenis Cespedes, and then the second run came when Cespedes had another RBI single to go up 2-0.
The Rangers best chance at scoring was missed in the second inning when the bases were loaded and one out, but Colon was able to get Mitch Moreland to ground into an inning-ending double play.
There was another chance in the third but the Rangers hit into another double play, and from that point on Colon didn't allow another baserunner beyond first. Colon finished strong as was able to retire the final 11 Rangers he faced.
