If you're not a subscriber to Sports Illustrated, and you're a Texas Rangers (or baseball) fan, you might want to pick up this week's copy of SI, which hits newstands on Friday. S.L. Price has a feature article on Josh Hamilton, who is certainly on pace to pick up his second American League MVP Award this year.
Price's story on Hamilton deals with much more than just his incredible 2012, though.
Price focuses on Josh Hamilton's everyday struggle, as he deals with demons from his past drug and alcohol addictions. Both Ron Washington and Katie Hamilton are quoted in the story, and both offer interesting quotes and insight into Hamilton's everyday life.
"Sometimes he can't sleep at night," Washington says. "This is when the demons start to come out of him, and he needs someone to talk to. Sometimes it takes 20 minutes up in here, and sometimes we take a half an hour. Then he leaves, and I'm cleansed and he's cleansed."
It's worth buying this week's SI even if you're not a subscriber. This story certainly makes Hamilton's season, and past seasons, all the more impressive.
Here's what you should be looking for out on newstands on Friday -- assuming you're not a subscriber.
