MLB Standings: Rangers Hold 5-Game Lead In AL West

The Texas Rangers are clearly the best team in the AL West, as their record has shown all season, and this week's update is no different. Texas holds a five-game lead over the second-place Angels going into the its series against the Tigers.

After going through a bit of a struggle, the Rangers ripped through their National League competition and are 8-2 in their last 10 outings. As far as Detroit's standings in the AL Central, the Tigers are hanging in there.

Fortunately for them, the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Indians are the teams they're fighting for position with, so it's definitely a winnable battle. That's especially with Detroit only three games back of the lead, boasting the best and only winning record of its past 10 games out of any other team in the division.
