Derek Holland Nearing Rehab Start

Derek Holland isn't quite ready for a rehab start, but he's progressing nicely toward it. At least, that's what assistant general manager Thad Levine had to say about Texas' injured southpaw.

Holland was placed on the disabled list on June 7, with what was ultimately described as shoulder fatigue. Obviously, shoulder injuries are no joke, and the Rangers took the cautious approach with Holland, placing him on the DL.

Originally, Holland was aiming for a July 1 return, but that's most certainly out of the question. Holland will likely be back after the All-Star break, which isn't terribly far away. The All-Star game is two weeks from Tuesday, and it makes little sense to rush Holland back before then.

It'll be a welcome sight when Holland's name is no longer on the disabled list, but there's no sense in rushing things. Texas is also currently without Koji Uehara, Alexi Ogando and Neftali Feliz.
