Texas Rangers fans will get a treat on Saturday, as Rangers prospect Justin Grimm will make his debut on Saturday. Grimm is starting in place of Alexi Ogando, who injured himself last Sunday against the Giants and was subsequently placed on the disabled list.
Grimm, who turns 24 in August, has been excellent for AA Frisco this year. In 13 starts, Grimm pitched to the tune of a 1.87 ERA, striking out 67 in 77 innings, allowing 65 hits and issuing only 14 walks -- good for a 1.03 WHIP.
It's unfortunate that Grimm's debut has been forced by injuries. Starting pitchers Neftali Feliz and Derek Holland are currently on the disabled list with arm injuries. Ogando, who had been inserted into the rotation for Holland's spot, injured his groin in his first start.
Yu Darvish will start on Friday against Houston, with Grimm pitching Saturday and Colby Lewis on Sunday.
