Diamondbacks Vs. Rangers Recap: Texas Wins 3rd Straight, Clinches Series With Arizona

The Texas Rangers won their third straight game and clinched their interleague series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night with a 1-0 victory. The game hit a minor delay but both Matt Harrison and Wade Miley made up for it by moving through both lineups and pushing a scoreless tie into the eighth inning. Harrison gave up just six hits in 7.1 innings of work, striking out three in a shutout appearance.

The Rangers finally managed to put together a rally against the Dbacks in the bottom of the eighth. Mike Napoli drew a lead-off walk and was sacrificed over to second by Yorvit Torrealba. After a Nelson Cruz strikeout, the nine-hole hitter Craig Gentry came through with a single to left to knock in Napoli for the 1-0 lead, chasing Miley.

Joe Nathan came on in the ninth to complete the shutout, quickly working through the middle of the order. Nathan stuck out the first two batters he faced and then induced a flyout by Chris Young to end the game. The Rangers will go for the sweep on Thursday with Scott Feldman on the mound. He's still searching for his first win of the season and he'll be opposed by Daniel Hudson.
