Neftali Feliz, Derek Holland Injury Update: Both Pitchers Could Throw Soon

Good news for the Texas Rangers, who almost desperately need something to get going in their pitching rotation. Neftali Feliz and Derek Holland seem to be making progress and reports say both of them could be throwing again by the end of the week.

Feliz, 24, said he wants to throw as soon as he's cleared, but he has not made an appearance in a game since May 18 because of inflamation in his right elbow. The plan is for him to see a team physician this week, which could clear him as early as Friday.

Feliz had this to say to ESPNDallas.com:

"I don't know the plan," Feliz said. "I'm just going to get ready and try to come back as soon as I can."

Holland shed around 15 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks and has been out of action since his last start June 5. He has been cleared and believes he could throw by the end of the week.

"I've been eating as much as I possibly can, trying to do everything, take protein before I go to bed, anything I can do to get some weight back," Holland said. "Trust me, I don't like watching TV when guys are playing and I'm not."
