The Texas Rangers may have taken two out of three games from old enemies the San Francisco Giants in interleague play, but they have some bad news coming out of that series. Another pitcher will be headed to the disabled list, further thinning out the staff of the Rangers.
Alexi Ogando injured himself running out a bunt in Sunday's series finale. Gerry Fraley reports that Ogando will be out for 4-6 weeks as a result. Michael Kirkman has been called up from Triple-A Round Rock to fill Ogando's spot in the rotation. Kirkman had a strong record and ERA in Round Rock as of late but had some control issues, with seven walks in 17 innings over his last four games.
When Ogando injured himself, he was making a spot start for injured starter Neftali Feliz, whom Fraley reports is making progress in his rehab, but is still several weeks away from returning.
