It has long been thought that the Texas Rangers were the favorites for the services of Roy Oswalt but with the race for the playoffs more wide open that originally expected, several other teams are thought to have a shot for Oswalt.
Aside from the Rangers, the Baltimore Orioles, Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox have been connected to Oswalt, but Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com says there is a new team in on the right-hander.
There was one whisper Oswalt, 34, worked out for the Dodgers recently. But sources familiar with their situation insisted that the Dodgers' interest came "awhile back'' and that there was no evidence of any renewed contact by the Dodgers.
Oswalt has expressed interest in playing for a winning team. He is expected to make a decision during the month of June.
