Rangers Vs. Mariners: Texas Wins As Neftali Feliz Throws Gem In First Career Start

New role? No problem.

Making his first career Major League start since moving out of the closer role, Neftali Feliz threw seven shutout innings, scattering four hits along with four strikeouts as the Rangers beat the Mariners 1-0 to move to 4-1 on the season. Felix finished with 108 pitches, 68 of which were for strikes.

The lone run of the game came in the second inning. Michael Young reached on a fielder's choice and made it to second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a two-out infield single by David Murphy. That would be all Feliz needed.

Murphy went 3-for-3 at the plate and Adrian Beltre went 2-for-4. Mike Adams and Joe Nathan each pitched a perfect inning out of the bullpen to secure the win, with Nathan picking up the save. Only two players for Seattle had a hit, as Justin Smoak and Jesus Montero each had two singles.
