Houston Astros GM Jeff Luhnow caused a stir Friday when he said the Texas Rangers were spending like "drunken sailors" in the Dominican Republic before the MLB changes its rules towards amateur spending as part of the new CBA that goes into effect into July.
↵On Saturday, he walked those comments back in a text message to the Houston Chronicle:
↵↵↵Luhnow said it was a bad choice of words and that his point "was more about the magnitude of their investment prior to future limitations. Not saying it's a bad strategy but one that many teams can't afford."

The Astros, who are moving to the AL West in 2013, would be wise to spend less time coveting the money the Texas Rangers have and more building their own organization up if they want to avoid the cellar in their new division.
