Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton expects to become a free agent at the end of the 2012 season and join what could be a strong market for outfielders. Hamilton did say that he would give the Rangers the first crack at signing him but it doesn't sound like he is willing to give much of a hometown discount.
"The Rangers have done a lot of me," Hamilton said. "I have a question. Have I done a lot for the Rangers? I think I have given them everything I've got. When it comes down to is, people have to understand this is a business. I love Texas, I love the fans, I love the organization and I love my teammates. But I'm not going to sit here and say I owe the Rangers. I don't feel I owe the Rangers."
Hamilton is scheduled to earn $13.75 million in 2012. He could potentially join a free agent class that includes the likes of Shane Victorino, B.J. Upton and Ichiro Suzuki.
