The Baltimore Orioles that visit The Ballpark at Arlington Friday night have many ties with the Rangers. The most visible former Ranger is O's manager Buck Showalter, who managed Texas from 2003 to 2006.
Stacey at Camden Chat notes the many other connections between the two teams. The most dangerous former Ranger is probably Chris Davis, who was sent to Baltimore at the 2011 deadline along with Tommy Hunter for Koji Uehara. Davis posted a .270/.326/.501 line in 562 plate appearances this year while playing four positions in the field. Hunter went 7-8 with a 5.45 ERA in 20 starts for Baltimore this season.
Pedro Strop and Darren O'Day could make appearances Friday night. Strop, a right-handed reliever, made 70 appearances this year for the O's with a 2.44 ERA. O'Day posted a 0.94 WHIP in 67 relief innings.
Zach Phillips, Taylor Teagarden, Omar Quintanilla and Endy Chavez are others who have contributed to Baltimore's surprise playoff run. Former O's who appeared on the Rangers roster this year are Uehara, Brandon Snyder and Luis Hernandez.
