According to the Star-Telegram, Texas' potential prized offseason possession is currently visiting the Metroplex. Yu Darvish has flown to Texas from Japan in order to acclimate himself with the area as well as the Rangers
↵↵↵General manager Jon Daniels confirmed that Darvish is in town after news of a visit surfaced overnight in the Japanese media. Daniels declined to discuss the details of Darvish's trip, but he isn't expected to be in town much longer. Darvish is planning to start his preseason workouts this week in Japan.
↵Daniels also declined to discuss the state of the contract negotiations, but a source suggested there's still work to do.

Given that the Rangers and Darvish's team have until January 18 to work out a contract, it's not surprising that there's still work to be done. Contracts with draftees often go down to the wire, and there's no reason to expect this to be any different.
