Ron Washington's Rangers are set to open the 2011 MLB Playoffs on Friday, as they play host to the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 1 of the ALDS. Bud Selig and the schedule makers decided to have the Rangers/Rays open up the 2011 postseason this year, as their game marks the first game of the playoffs.
Texas' schedule for the ALDS is as follows:
Game 1, Friday, September 30: Rays (Matt Moore) @ Rangers (C.J. Wilson), 4:07 p.m. CDT on TBS
Game 2, Saturday, October 1: Rays (James Shields) @ Rangers (Derek Holland), 6:07 p.m. CDT on TNT
Game 3, Monday, October 3: Rangers (TBD) @ Rays (TBD), 4:07 p.m. CDT on TBS
Game 4, Tuesday, October 4: Rangers (TBD) @ Rays (TBD), time TBD
Game 5, Thursday, October 6: Rays @ Rangers, time TBD
Obviously, Games 4 and 5 are only if necessary as the series could end in three games if either Tampa Bay or Texas sweeps.
