Rangers' Nomar Mazara Takes Batting Practice In Arlington

In case you haven't heard, the Texas Rangers gave 16 year old Nomar Mazara five million dollar bonus to sign with them - a record for any international signee. On Wednesday, the young Mazara was at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, taking batting practice among other things. Anthony Andro posted a brief video of Mazara taking batting practice. While it's nothing to go gaga over - after all, it is just batting practice - it's still exciting to see Mazara swinging a bat. What is noticeable, though, is his monster leg kick that he has.

Andro also says that Texas is listing Mazara at 6'4" 195. Think about that for a second. 6'4", 195 at age 16. I'm not sure there was anybody in either high school I went to that was even approaching that body type my sophomore or junior years.

The plan for Mazara, again per Andro, is to have him play in some exhibition games in the Dominican before taking off to the fall instructional leagues, aptly, in the fall.
