The Texas Rangers look to start a new winning streak on Thursday, just one day after having their 12 game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Los Angeles Angels. Thursday's contest will be the rubber match - and a win by the Rangers would have them leaving Anaheim with a comfortable five game AL West lead.
C.J. Wilson gets the start for the Rangers, looking for his 11th win of the season. Wilson, in his second full year of starting for the Rangers, has pitched very well this year. Wilson has struck out 124 in 139 innings of work to go along with a 3.11 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and .239 batting average against.
If the Rangers are going to win, though, they'll have to beat one of the league's best pitchers this year: Jered Weaver. Weaver has pitched to the tune of a 1.90 ERA, .93 WHIP while holding opponents to a .198 batting average.
Both Wilson and Texas' bats will have to be sharp today, as there will be little to no margin for error against Weaver.
First pitch in Anaheim is scheduled for 2:35 p.m. CDT, 12:35 locally..
