Derek Holland pitched his second consecutive complete game shutout on Thursday night as the Rangers extended their winning streak to eight win a 5-0 win in Seattle. Now on Friday, the Rangers look to extend their winning streak to nine games as they take on the Mariners at Safeco Field.
Colby Lewis starts for the Rangers, looking to improve upon his on his 8-7 record. Lewis has been inconsistent this year, but still sports very good numbers overall. Lewis is the owner of a 4.38 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and .247 BAA and has struck out 96 batters in 113 innings. Lewis' problems have stemmed from the long ball though, as he's already given up a staggering 23 home runs before even making one second half start.
The Rangers will have to face Doug Fister, who is somehow 3-10 on the season. Fister, despite the awful record, has pitched well, to the tune of a 3.09 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and .256 BAA.
First pitch is scheduled for 9:10 p.m. CDT, 7:10 locally in Seattle.
