The Lone Star Series continues on Wednesday, and with a win, the Rangers can claim the prestigious Silver Boot, which is awarded to the winner of the Lone Star Series each year. There should be lots of home runs in store tonight if 2011 has been any indicator, with Colby Lewis getting the start for the Rangers against Brett Myers of the Houston Astros.
Lewis has been as two faced as 006 this season, mixing brilliance with disaster. On the whole, Lewis' numbers are respectable: a 4.44 ERA to go along with a 1.26 WHIP and 77 SO against 22 BB in 93.1 innings. The ERA is inflated because Lewis has allowed 19 home runs on the season already, putting him on pace for 38 allowed for the season.
The National League version of Lewis is taking the mound tonight as well. Brett Myers has respectable numbers on the whole - 4.65 ERA, 1.32 WHIP with 75 SO in 102.2 innings. Like Lewis, Myers has been plagued by the long ball, giving up 20 on the season.
We'll see if Josh Hamilton, Nelson Cruz and the rest of Texas' offense can add a few more dingers to Myers' total.
First pitch of this potential home run derby is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT.
