Mitch Moreland provided heroics for the Rangers on Tuesday night, putting Colby Lewis and the Rangers in position to sweep the Houston Astros on Wednesday.
Moreland belted a walk off home run in the 11th inning on Tuesday, giving the Rangers a 5-4 win over the Astros. The win was Texas' fourth in their last five games as the Rangers appear to now be on a roll after the Rangers struggled in Minnesota and New York.
Lewis, who might be the definition of inconsistent in 2011, will look to even up his record on Wednesday. Lewis' record stands at 6-7 with a 4.80 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. Lewis has struck out 69 in 86.1 innings of work this year against just 26 walks - but has also given up 19 home runs so far. After two miserable outings against Detroit and Minnesota, Lewis rebounded nicely against the Braves on June 17, striking out 10 and giving up only two runs in six and two thirds innings of work.
Brett Myers will take the mound for the Astros, who are looking to avoid being swept by the Rangers. Myers has struggled with the longball just like Lewis this year, allowing 19 in 96.2 innings. Myers is 3-6 for Houston on the year thus far, with a 4.75 ERA and 1.32 WHIP.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT.
