Darren O'Day To Begin Rehab Monday, Relief Help Coming

This isn't earth shattering news for the Texas Rangers or their fans, but reliever Darren O'Day is set to begin rehab on Monday according to T.R. Sullivan.

Pitcher Darren O'Day will be assigned to Double A Frisco on Monday to begin his medical rehabilitation assignment. He will also pitch Wednesday for Triple A Round Rock. O'Day threw 50 pitches of live batting practice on Saturday and all went well. He will take PFP on Sunday just to make sure everything is working. He has been sidelined since April 28 with a torn labrum in his left hip.

O'Day likely isn't the answer to Texas' bullpen woes, but, it'll be nice to have him back in the fold regardless. Hopefully his return will prevent Jon Daniels from overpaying for a closer such as Heath Bell or Kerry Wood when the trade deadline comes around. Paying out the wazoo for a reliever rarely ends well for the team acquiring the reliever.
