Yankees Pound Rangers Again, 12-4

This is getting old fast. The Yankees pummeled Rangers pitching to the tune of 12 runs for the second straight night, pounding five home runs and 21 baserunners and striking out just three times. Derek Holland took the brunt of it, allowing six runs on seven hits and five walks in five innings and failing to strike out a batter. Mark Lowe and Neftali Feliz each allowed three runs in one inning.

The Rangers fared better against Ivan Nova than in their last meeting, but four runs in 5.2 innings weren’t enough, and the Yankees bullpen shut the door for 3.1 more. Ian Kinsler had a big game for Texas, homering, singling and walking twice. He also stole his 13th base in 15 tries. Elvis Andrus and Josh Hamilton each reached base three times as well. The last six spots in the order, though, went just 3-22.

C.J. Wilson will look to salvage a game from the series Thursday. The Yankees with throw veteran minor leaguer Brian Gordon.
