Rangers Vs. White Sox: Derek Holland Takes On Jake Peavy

The Texas Rangers take on the Chicago White Sox in the middle game of a three-game set on Tuesday night as Derek Holland takes the mound against former Cy Young award winner Jake Peavy

The Rangers won their second game in a row on Monday night, defeating the White Sox 4-0 behind Alexi Ogando's finest MLB performance, as he pitched a complete game shutout. Further, the Rangers' offense received a big boost as Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz returned to the lineup on Monday - and both promptly homered in their return, fueling Texas' offense in the victory.

Holland will look to maintain Texas' momentum on Tuesday - and build on his most recent start. Holland pitched eight innings on May 19 against Kansas City, allowing just one run, on nine hits while striking out five and walking one. Still, Holland has been incredibly inconsistent this year, as evidenced by his 4.37 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and .298 BAA.

Peavy will be making his third start of the season and he's coming off an excellent start in which Peavy pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits without walking a batter and striking out eight. The 2007 National League Cy Young award winner has yet to walk a batter in 15 innings this year and has struck out 12 batters while allowing only 10 hits.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT.
