Seattle Mariners (2-3) at Texas Rangers (5-0)
Probable Starting Pitchers: Felix Hernandez (1-0, 2.00 ERA), C.J. Wilson (0-0, 3.18 ERA)
Another series, another possible sweep for the 2011 Texas Rangers. The Rangers will face off against reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Felix Hernandez today as Texas looks to sweep away the Seattle Mariners.
Texas will counter Hernandez by sending C.J. Wilson to the mound. Wilson, who drew the Opening Day start for the Rangers against the Red Sox, did not factor into the decision. Wilson pitched only five and two thirds innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits while walking two and striking out six. The Rangers won the game 9-5 after a four run eighth inning propelled the Rangers to victory.
Wilson is also the only starter on the Rangers yet to record a win so far this year. Colby Lewis, Matt Harrison, Derek Holland and Alexi Ogando were all credited with wins in Texas' four other victories.
Hernandez was dominant in his first start of the 2011 season, pitching a complete game against Oakland to pick up his first win of 2011. Hernandez allowed just two runs on five hits and didn't walk a batter while striking out five in the victory.
Texas will head to Baltimore after the game today for their first road trip of the 2011 season.
First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. EST, 1:05 p.m. local.
