Texas Rangers (9-2) at Detroit Tigers (4-7)
Probable Starting Pitchers: Dave Bush (0-0, 0.00), Max Scherzer (2-0, 5.73)
The Texas Rangers take on the Detroit Tigers this afternoon in the rubber match of a three-game set. Texas will be doing so without Josh Hamilton, the reigning American League MVP. Hamilton suffered a nondisplaced fracture in his right shoulder after attempting to score from third on a foul popup. Hamilton dove headfirst into home to avoid a collision with Detroit catcher Victor Martinez and landed awkwardly, fracturing the shoulder. He is expected to miss six to eight weeks.
Dave Bush is set to make his first appearance as a member of the Texas Rangers, thanks to Texas' doubleheader on Saturday. Bush spent the last five seasons in the National League with the Milwaukee Brewers and managed to break camp with the Rangers as a long reliever in Texas' bullpen. Bush went 8-13 with a 4.54 ERA and 1.51 WHIP last season.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. EST, 12:05 p.m. CST.
