Texas Rangers (9-1) at Detroit Tigers (3-7)
Probables: C.J. Wilson (1-0, 2.84), Brad Penny (0-1, 11.17)
C.J. Wilson gets the start today for the Texas Rangers as the Rangers look to improve to 10-1 on the young season. Wilson will be making his third start of the year, pitching effectively on Opening Day against the Red Sox in a no-decision before receiving a win last week against the Mariners. Wilson did not face the Tigers at all last season, his first season as a starting pitcher in the big leagues.
Detroit will send Brad Penny to the mound to counter Wilson. Penny, who was signed as a free agent over the winter, pitched poorly in his first two starts with the Tigers, not being able to pitch out of the sixth inning in either of them. So far on the season, Penny has allowed 12 runs on 13 hits in 9.2 innings while walking seven and striking out six.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. EST, 12:05 p.m. CST.
