2011 Diamond Mind Blowout: Rangers Look Good

Every year, Replacement Level Yankee's Weblog (ignore the word Yankees, it's a good blog) runs what they call the Diamond Minds Blowout. They take several of the most common projection systems out there and throw them together for one mast projection.

And the American League version for 2011 went up earlier today.

The Rangers look good, winning an average of 88 games in their combined simulations, winning the division just under 46% of the time, and making the playoffs over half the time. While that looks good, it's not as positive as some projections (such as their own CAIRO) have looked, but it is still pretty nice, and good to see that everyone expects the Rangers to be the team to beat by a large margin (50/50 or better to make the playoffs is huge).

It also installs the Rangers' ceiling as 98 wins, and floor as 78 wins, with the average win total to take the AL West being 91 wins. You can also see each individual projection system that went in to the aggregate, and you can click this link to see how those projections have fared in the past.

Check it out.
