Christopher is probably too modest to post this himself, so I will.
↵Today, the Rangers unveiled their 2011 promotional giveaway schedule. On June 20, against the Astros, you will see that all fans get a Nelson Cruz Walk-Off bobblehead (by the way, if you go, please put yours on eBay, and let me know when you do, thanks).
↵Why did this happen? Apparently because of comments on Lone Star Ball. See, way back in January, our own Mr. Fittz wrote this:
↵↵↵Does anyone know when the Rangers are going to release their promotion schedule? Not that I really care that much about a magnetic calendar but it seems most teams have done that ages ago and I’d like to know when I can get pick up my Nellie Cruz pointing at camera during walk-off home run bobblehead.
↵
Rangers PA announcer and VP of In Park Entertainment saw that very comment, and suggested the idea to Chuck Greenberg. And because he can, Greenberg has made it so.
↵Payroll is back up, the front office that produced an AL champion was kept in place, and Greenberg's group has said all the right things. But, on top of that, they are clearly interested in -- and successful at -- keeping their fingers on the pulse of the hardcore Rangers fans to find out what ideas they can bring to the populace to bring them in to our world of Rangers love and obsession. An awesome, simple idea posted on a Rangers board was found and turned in to an actual thing. It's just a bobblehead, but that has to make you feel like they care. And have a sense of humor.
↵There are so many reasons to be happy about the Rangers' future, and seemingly constantly the new bosses give us another reason to be excited about their being in charge.
