Just seven months after bankruptcy proceedings, Forbes says that the Rangers are the eighth most valuable franchise in Major League Baseball at $561 million. That value represents a 25% rise from Q1 of 2010, when Tom Hicks could not fund a payroll and was desperately and alternatively trying to get the team sold and hang onto it himself. The fifth most valued team, the Mets, are worth almost 50% more than the Rangers, but after all most of us Rangers fans have been pleading for the last half decade just to be competitive financially with teams in other similar markets and situations. It appears that the club is much closer to being able to do that today.
