As all Rangers fans know by now, C.J. Wilson is headed to the free agent market this winter. With C.C. Sabathia locked up in New York, Wilson is clearly the top free agent pitcher available. It's stating the obvious, but it's still a little scary when New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman acknowledges it as well.
↵Appearing on the Dan Patrick Show on Friday, Cashman had this to say about Wilson:
↵↵↵"I'd say it's fair to say C.J. Wilson is probably the best pitcher on the marketplace right now since Sabathia's been taken out and retained here," Cashman said. "I don't think it's a stretch to tell anybody that he's the most attractive candidate."

With New York's staff in disarray, it seems logical that the Yankees will pursue Wilson to some degree. Wilson may very well leave this winter, but bolting as a free agent to the Bronx would be tough to swallow.
