Game 1 of the ALCS was plagued by two rain delays, and it doesn't look like Major League Baseball is going to allow Game 2 to suffer the same fate. Game 2 of the ALCS has been postponed until Monday, with first pitch due to come at 3:19 p.m. CT at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, per Bryan Dolgin.
This will eliminate the first travel day of the series. Games 3, 4 and 5 are still scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Detroit.
While it's certainly unfortunate that the game has been postponed and the travel day is lost, it's perfectly logical. Neither Jim Leyland or Ron Washington are going to want to pull their starters after four innings thanks to rain for a second straight day.
Texas will have to give Derek Holland a belated birthday present, as the lefty was supposed to take the mound on Sunday, which is his birthday. Instead, Holland will wait until Monday to try to give the Rangers a 2-0 ALCS lead.
