Rangers Vs. Cardinals Score: Allen Craig Homers, Texas Leads 7-5 Heading To The Ninth

Determined not to go away quietly, the St. Louis Cardinals draw closer with an Allen Craig solo homer in the bottom of the eighth inning off of Derek Holland. Texas takes a 7-5 lead into the ninth inning.

Lance Berkman began the inning with a fly out to Nelson Cruz in right. Craig then followed with his home run into the left field stands. Holland got David Freese to ground out for the second out of the inning before allowing a opposite field single to Yadier Molina

As Gerald Laird was announced as a pinch hitter, Ron Washington went to his bullpen replacing Holland with Mike Adams. Tony La Russa countered by sending up Daniel Descalso who immediately legged out an infield hit to shortstop Elvis Andrus. Jon Jay followed with his first hit of the 2011 World Series to load the bases with two outs for Rafael Furcal who tapped harmlessly back to Adams at the mound to retire the side.
