It didn't take long for the Rangers to respond to Delmon Young's go-ahead home run.
The Rangers tied the game up at 2-2 after Josh Hamilton drove in Ian Kinsler in the top of the fifth inning. Kinsler was walked by Verlander, before Elvis Andrus sent him to third with a base hit of his own.
Hamilton has now driven in both of Texas' runs, with Kinsler scoring on both of Hamilton's RBIs. Hamilton drove in Kinsler in the top half of the first inning on a sacrifice fly.
With runners on the corners, Hamilton smacked a two out single into left center field, scoring Kinsler and moving Andrus to third base in the process.
Unfortunately for the Rangers and their fans, Michael Young struck out with the go-ahead run on third base. Adrian Beltre missed a three run home run by a matter of inches before flying out to the warning track in center field to end the inning.
At the least, the Rangers have made Verlander labor through his five innings. Verlander has already thrown 96 pitches through five innings. With Joaquin Benoit and Jose Valverde both unavailable for Game 5, this could prove to be significant.
