Ian Kinsler and the Rangers didn't waste any time scoring in Game 5.
Kinsler led off the game with a double off of Detroit ace Justin Verlander. After failing to get a bunt down, Elvis Andrus grounded out to second base, advancing Kinsler to third base.
Josh Hamilton then lofted a fly ball to centerfield, deep enough to score Kinsler with ease, and giving the Rangers a quick 1-0 lead in Game 5 of the ALCS.
Washington's decision to attempt to bunt Kinsler over is questionable at best, as it takes the bat out of the No. 2 hitter in the lineup. With Kinsler already in scoring position, there's little advantage to bunting. Texas did end up scoring, but perhaps the inning could have been much bigger for the Rangers.
C.J. Wilson pitched a spotless first inning, preserving Texas' 1-0 lead.
Now, only 24 outs stand between the Rangers and another American League pennant.
