The Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers are once again headed to extra innings in Game 4 of the ALCS. Detroit grabbed a 2-0 lead in the third on a double by Miguel Cabrera. Texas scored three runs in the sixth to take the lead before Brandon Inge knotted things back up with a solo homer in the seventh.
Joaquin Benoit pitched another scoreless inning for Jim Leyland in the ninth. He began the inning by getting Texas catcher Mike Napoli to ground out harmlessly to shortstop. Benoit then walked Nelson Cruz before striking out Daniel Murphy for the second out. After a long battle to Yorvit Torrealba, Benoit escaped the inning by picking off Cruz who broke to second too early.
Darren Oliver replaced Mike Adams on the mound in the ninth for the Rangers. He pitched a perfect inning retiring Alex Avila, Jhonny Peralta and Ramon Santiago in order.
