Detroit Tigers vs. RHP Colby Lewis
- Austin Jackson - CF
- Ramon Santiago - 2B
- Miguel Cabrera - 1B
- Victor Martinez - DH
- Don Kelly - 3B
- Jhonny Peralta - SS
- Alex Avila - C
- Ryan Raburn - RF
-
Andy Dirks - LF
Per Buster Olney, Andy Dirks will be starting game three, replacing the late-scratched Delmon Young. Presumably, Ryan Raburn will not move over to leftfield, and Dirks will simply take over Young's spot.
In his 78 game rookie season, Dirks hit .251/.296/.406, with a .308 weighted On Base Average. A lefty, he showed a dramatic reverse platoon split, which would be an advantage of Colby Lewis, but 78 games is too short of a season to expect a true reverse split.
More likely, it poses an advantage for the Rangers by eliminating Young's bat, though Dirks did show some skill in the field in 2011. It also shortens the Tigers' bench.
