Reports On Status Of Adrian Beltre Conflict

After an initial report from the Dominican Republic early Sunday that Adrian Beltre and the Rangers had agreed to a six-year deal for $96 million, a more reliable source, Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes, reported that the sides were “imminently” close to a six-year, $90 million deal.

Local outlets, including the Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star Telegram and T.R. Sullivan, a Rangers beat reporter for MLB.com, were told later Sunday night that those reports were premature, with Sullivan’s source saying that “nothing is remotely imminent.”

It seems safe to guess that both sources emanate from the Rangers, who are typically conservative about sharing information on ongoing negotiations with the press, but as of early Monday morning, no deal has been officially announced as completed.
