Sure, the Rangers missed out on re-signing Cliff Lee - but they made up for it by picking up Brian Barden, re-signing Endy Chavez and inviting them both to Spring Training, right? Seth McClung was also invited to Surprise along with Barden and Chavez.
↵Chavez, assuming his knees are healthy, is a good enough defender that he warrants a roster spot. Barden hasn't done much in the majors. He was a member of the St. Louis Cardinals from '07-'09 as a bench player, bouncing between St. Louis and AAA Memphis. He did the same thing last year - just with the Marlins while hitting .179 in the majors. He's unlikely to crack the Rangers active roster when the team breaks camp.
↵The Rangers are also waiting on Brandon Webb to make his decision - something that should come in the next few days. The Rangers have shown interest in the injured sinkerballer, and he cold prove to be a worthwhile pick up if he can be somewhat healthy. The Cubs and Nationals are also reportedly in the mix for Webb's services.
