ESPN Axes Joe Morgan, Jon Miller From Sunday Night Baseball

At long last, ESPN is changing their Sunday Night Baseball crew for the upcoming 2011 season. Jon Miller and Joe Morgan will no longer call the games, something that will make many baseball fans happy, as well as fans of logic.

Miller and Morgan have called Sunday Night Baseball for the past 20 years for ESPN. Morgan, of course, is one of the best baseball players of all-time and a two-time MVP award winner, but that didn't translate into enjoyable baseball broadcasting.

Miller has been the play-by-play man of the San Francisco Giants for various radio and television broadcasts. The New York Times speculates he can either accept ESPN's offer of shifting to the radio or he can have an increased workload calling Giants games. Either way, his days on Sunday Night Baseball are over.

The defending American League Champion Texas Rangers (that has a nice ring to it, huh?) will open their season Friday, April 1 at home against the Boston Red Sox. Maybe ESPN will have their new crew in Arlington that Sunday night.
