Josh Hamilton, Vlad Guerrero Win Silver Slugger Awards

The Silver Slugger awards were announced earlier today and two members of the Texas Rangers took home awards. Outfielder Josh Hamilton won his second while designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero won his eighth. Hamilton finished the year batting .359 with a .411 OBP and .633 SLG while belting 32 home runs in just 133 games. Guerrero didn't match Hamilton's production (but who did, really?) batting .300/.345/.496 with 29 home runs and 115 runs batted in.

Hamilton might not be done collecting hardware for his work this past season. He is a legitimate MVP candidate and is likely the favorite to win the award. Hamilton did win the SB Nation Dallas-Fort Worth AL MVP award, so hopefully the BBWAA follows suit.

Guerrero is currently a free agent after the Rangers declined his option but Jon Daniels would like to bring him back at a more affordable salary.

Joe Mauer, Miguel Cabrera, Robinson Cano, Adrian Beltre, Alexei Ramirez, Jose Bautista and Carl Crawford were the other American League Silver Slugger recipients this year. Ramirez, Bautista and Crawford all earned their first while the others were all repeat winners.

In the National League, Brian McCann, Albert Pujols, Dan Uggla, Ryan Zimmerman, Troy Tulowitzki, Ryan Braun, Carlos Gonzalez, Matt Holliday and Yovani Gallardo were winners.
