ALCS: Nelson Cruz To Start In Game 6

Per T.R. Sullivan, Nelson Cruz will be in the starting lineup tonight in Game 6 of the ALCS as the Texas Rangers take on the New York Yankees.

Cruz will be starting in right field for the Rangers. There was speculation that Cruz would be relegated to designated hitter duties thanks to the tightness in his hamstring but that is not the case. Vladimir Guerrero will not have to relinquish his duties as DH.

Cruz’ balky hamstring has landed him on the disabled list three separate times this year and he was removed from Game 5 of the ALCS in New York due to tightness in the hamstring. Cruz and the Rangers say that the move was precautionary. Texas was trailing New York at the time Cruz was removed from the game and replaced with David Murphy.

Cruz and the rest of the Rangers look to close out the ALCS tonight in six games against the Yankees and head to their first World Series in franchise history.
