Per T.R. Sullivan, both Tommy Hunter and C.J. Wilson will be available out of the bullpen for Game 6 of the ALCS tonight against the Yankees.
Hunter pitched Game 4 on Tuesday when the Rangers defeated AJ Burnett and the Yankees. Hunter didn’t escape the fourth inning and only threw 70 pitches in the contest. Derek Holland came on in relief to earn the win.
Wilson was touched up in Game 5, giving up six runs (five earned) in five innings of work in the loss to the Yankees. He’s also used to working out of the bullpen: he’s made 252 relief appearances in his career before returning to starting in 2010.
Both are available tonight to back up starter Colby Lewis and presumably will be available should the Yankees force a Game 7.
Conversely, CC Sabathia will be available out of the bullpen for New York in Game 6. Sabathia earned the win during Wednesday’s Game 5, throwing 112 pitches in six innings.
