Texas and Wyoming both finished with 8-5 records in 2011, and both teams will want to improve that in 2012 as they face off against each other in the first game of the season.
As they did last season, Texas will ride on the two QB tandem of David Ash and Case McCoy as the season progresses. Ash has been named the starter for the first game but McCoy will likely feature as well. Wyoming might have the better QB situation coming into the game, with duel threat Brett Smith manning the helm for the team, but Texas have the superior defense and running game. An upset by the Cowboys at Texas Memorial Stadium is not expected.
The game will be seen by a lot more eyes than it was expected to after AT&T uVerse signed a deal to host the Longhorn Network, which will provide a wide expansion of coverage for the game.
Game time, TV channel: 7 p.m. CT, Longhorn Network
Point spread: Texas favored by 29 points.
